Water trails to discover the flora and fauna of Tahiti’s lagoon
Discover coral reefs in complete safety
French Polynesia’s Ministry of Tourism has set up water trails in the lagoons of Tahiti, Bora Bora and Rangiroa. These courses of varying lengths, marked by surface buoys, allow you to discover the beauty of the seabed in complete safety.
Information at every stage
Under each buoy, a panel introduces you to a marine species or gives you information on its biology or ecology. You’ll learn about the richness and fragility of this unique environment.
The Punaauia water trail
Located in the Atehi regulated fishing zone, close to the Vaiava public beach, the Punaauia water trail takes you on an enchanting stroll over a flat bottom dotted with coral.
A protected, accessible site
The site is well protected from the most frequent winds and offers generally excellent visibility. The maximum depth is 2 metres, and the visit takes around 30 minutes.
