Here, it’s not the sea that welcomes you, but the mountain. No turquoise lagoon on the horizon, but dense and generous nature. You enter the heart of Tahiti, where deep valleys, hidden waterfalls and forest trails invite you to slow down, listen, and, breathe differently
At the end of the majesticPapenoo valley, La Maroto opens its arms to you. And to fully experience this adventure, two experiences are available to you:
👉on the one hand, theRelais de la Maroto, a small hotel perched in nature, perfect if you want a little comfort, a real room and a good meal served quietly at the table at the end of the day..
👉 on the other, Fare Hape, a traditional village managed by a cultural association, where you sleep in a simple fare, without wifi or electricity, but with the essentials: real encounters, raw nature and total immersion in Polynesian culture.
Two styles, two atmospheres…but the same grandiose setting: the green valley, the clear rivers, the birdsong, the legends floating in the air. And above all, this unique feeling of touching the wild soul of Tahiti.
Ready to venture further? Then let yourself be guided to a suspended world, where the mountain still whispers to those who take the time to listen.
Fare Hape

Do you want to experience it to the fullest, in a back-to-basics way? Then put down your bag at Fare Hape. This traditional village was created by the Haururu association to keep the culture alive and protect the environment of the valley.
Here, there’s no Wi-Fi, no luxury. But a true connection to nature, history, and ancestors. You sleep in a rustic fare (remember to bring your sleeping bag), you cook with others, and you learn.
Learn what a marae is, listen to the stories of the elders, and observe the Polynesian flora in this unique natural conservatory. It’s simple, powerful, and unforgettable.

Le Relais de la Maroto

Imagine yourself on an open terrace, a steaming coffee in hand, and a 360° view of the Papenoo Valley. The Relais de la Maroto is a little piece of history. A former workers’ lodge, it’s now a mountain lodge with a family feel.
Here you can sleep in a comfortable room, enjoy a local (or international, as you prefer) dinner, and set off to explore waterfalls, natural pools, or hiking trails of 10 to 40 kilometers.
Looking for a bit of action? The hotel also offers quad bike rides or 4×4 safaris with a local provider.
