Corals aren’t just an underwater backdrop. They are the lungs of our lagoons, the refuge of tropical fish, and the cradle of Polynesian biodiversity. Unfortunately, they are in danger – but the good news is, you can take action!
Ready to get your hands in the water and give the ocean a helping hand? Follow me, and I’ll explain everything!
Where and how to participate in coral restoration?
Whether you’re here or on the other side of the world, there are several ways to get involved in coral conservation in Polynesia. Two fascinating organizations offer you the chance to take action!
Tamari’i Pointe des Pêcheurs in Tahiti
Head to Punaauia, at Pointe des Pêcheurs, where the Tamari’i Pointe des Pêcheurs association has been fighting since 2008 to protect the lagoon and its treasures. Here, you can roll up your sleeves and participate in coral propagation and maintaining the coral garden.

And that’s not all. The association also organizes awareness workshops to help understand the importance of reefs and offers a coral sponsorship programallowing you to adopt and care for a coral fragment as it grows and thrives in the lagoon.. You choose your coral species, receive an adoption certificate, and your protected coral is cared for before being replanted in the lagoon. It’s a meaningful way to directly contribute to the preservation of these vital ecosystems!
💙 Good plan : For just 2500F, it’s open to everyone! All you need to bring are your fins, mask, snorkel, and lycra to participate. It’s a great way to get involved and make a positive impact on the coral reefs!
