Mahina Ti’a Mai: A Week of Open-Air Performances to Keep the Heiva Spirit Alive
Every year, right after the Heiva i Tahiti, the town of Mahina keeps the magic going with Mahina Ti’a Mai a free, open-air festival that brings together some of the best dance and singing groups from the Heiva.
The setting?
The legendary Pointe Vénus, with its iconic lighthouse, black sand beach, and breathtaking sunsets.
The spirit?
Sharing, mana, and culture. There’s no competition here just a stage offered to the troupes so the ‘ori tahiti and hīmene that lit up the Heiva can shine once more.
Seated on a pe’ue, with family or friends, people come to listen, feel, and applaud. Mahina Ti’a Mai is a simple yet powerful way to celebrate Polynesian culture… differently, but always with pride.
The event takes place over one week at the end of July. It’s free, festive, and deeply local a warm, welcoming atmosphere for everyone.
